OBJECTIVE: At The End of the Course the Participant Will Be Able To: Understand vital aspects and factors of successful pig production; Design and implement health control and hygiene programs in order to minimize risks at acceptable costs and efforts; make production planning to meet market demands; calculate cost price, farm income and profit; make investment planning for expansion, including financing; develop a strategy for marketing of final product.
SUBJECTS: Pig management, including housing, nutrition, reproduction and waste management; rearing young stock (weaners), fatteners management and feed efficiency; carcass quality; Ensuring pig health, hygiene: measures and bio-security necessary for high production level; Technical standard figures are calculated, interpreted and analyzed; Calculation of cost price of weaner and finished pig; Evaluation of market including its needs and preferences in order to understand production (quality and quantity);Basic business plan, making use of farm economics and market information is explained.
MODES OF INSTRUCTION: Theoretical lectures , practical instructions, hands on exercise, discussions and excursions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS: Preferably secondary (Post Primary) education and above with or without experience in intensive pig production. Previous involvement in pig production will be an advantage.
